Recreation Committee Minutes 2011/12/12
12/12/11 Recreation Committee Meeting
Scott Blewitt, Matt McNally, Craig Heino, Jon Reed, Betsy Katz

Meeting called to order at 6:34pm by Craig Heino

Scott - Apple trees at Tilton park were pruned by Chippers

Sledding at Tilton Park was listed as a priority for rec committee members in the past.  We should consider a conservation with Conservation Commission regarding clearing trails for sledding.  Arrowhead in Claremont could serve as a model for a volunteer run operation
- Ask Lake Sunapee Snowmobile Club to groom tubing/sledding runs there.  Craig will follow up with LSSC

Donations received -
$500 from Sunapee Seniors generated via the Thrift Store
$500 from Morgan and Loretta Dewey to benefit Dewey Beach, Looney Lunge, or Skating Rink.  This money will go to the walk behind sweeper purchased to maintain the rink

Open Gym - Saturday nights beginning January 7  6-8pm.  Grades 3-12

Revolving Fund has approximately $32k in it.  Turkey Trot made about $15k before expenses.  Expenses were high due to one time expenses like the finish line for $3.7k

Red Sox tickets will go on sale this Thursday.

Basketball has begun. Scott is busy coaching his kids and not always on hand.  Who is the point of escalation?  Ideas were brainstormed and will be considered in the future.  Now Scott will make sure coaches and referees are equipped with emergency numbers.

Mount Royal Academy has a gym that they will allow Sunapee Rec to use.  They have given Scott 1 key to use.  Scott is managing this time/access as best as fits his schedule.  Scott has assisted them with finding referees.

Meeting minutes from 11/22 were amended to reflect the date the trees were vandalized in May 2009.  Approval of minutes motion by Jon, second by Craig.  All in favor, unanimous.

Betsy is pursuing ideas for a spaghetti dinner to benefit the skate park.

Patricia and Jon will remind the boys who brought forward the skate park request to contact Dick Katz for a newspaper article and pictures in the local papers.

Jon and Scott will contact Dexter's about skiing and winter trail race.

Scott will send a thank you to Marilyn Ripley for the donation of the bike that was raffled off at the Turkey Trot

Motion to adjourn by at 7:41 Patricia, second by Craig.  All in favor
